Information sent on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police

Police Cadets are coming to Bodmin!
Devon and Cornwall Police are looking to recruit new Cadets for the new unit which will be based at Bodmin Police Station.
The role of a Volunteer Police Cadet is extremely varied, you will develop a wide range of skills while having fun and helping your local community.  Cadets participate in many activities such as teambuilding tasks, community engagement events, drill, and interactive sessions with many different departments within the Force and partner agencies.
As a Volunteer Police Cadet, you’ll be issued with a uniform and attend regular sessions lasting two hours in the evenings. You’ll learn about a wide range of policing and community-related topics.
As well as these sessions, you’ll also assist police officers, Police Community Support Officers, and other police staff at a variety of community events, promoting crime prevention initiatives and be ambassadors for Devon & Cornwall Police at official events such as Remembrance Sunday.
As you become more senior within the unit, you will be supported to take on additional responsibilities such as mentoring new recruits, running drill and team-building sessions and developing ideas for Cadet deployments within the community.
We aim to build our Police Cadet groups to reflect the rich diversity and complexity of our communities by attracting the best talent from the widest pool of people.
Potential cadets need to be aged 13 at the time of application and no older than 18, with a keen desire to get involved in their communities as well as build on their knowledge and experience through team activities and training.
We are also looking for recruits for other areas within Cornwall and you can find more information on the national Volunteer Police Cadets website at
