Appeal for witnesses

Police investigating a reported assault near Tavistock on Tuesday 20 July at around 7pm are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police received reports of an altercation between a man and a woman on Old Launceston Road, between Lamerton and Tavistock.

Officers would particularly like to hear from a woman who was driving a 4 x 4 vehicle from Tavistock toward Lamerton.

A second driver that officers would like to hear from is a man who was driving a silver/grey vehicle from Lamerton to Tavistock and provided a lift to the woman.

Both drivers are being sought as potential witnesses.

A 24-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage and theft. He has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries, to return on Tuesday 17 August.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information that could help the police with their enquiries.
