Good morning
On Saturday 4 March 2023, we received reports from several members of the public about a red and white scooter being ridden around Efford and Laira by youths without helmets on. The scooter was later found abandoned at about 4 pm at the top of the ‘100 Steps’ - the path that leads from Derwent Avenue, Efford to Norfolk Road in Laira. The ‘Royal Alloy’ retro style scooter had been stolen from Honicknowle Lane, at 4.35 am that morning.
The incident may have seemed like fun to those involved. However, the manner of riding was potentially very dangerous not only to them but to other road users and pedestrians. We are keen to identify those responsible, so that we can take appropriate action.
Many people will have witnessed the stolen scooter being ridden around the Efford area and may even have captured images of those responsible on mobile phones. Please can you email us on 101 quoting occurrence number 50230051358, if you have any information that would lead to the identification of those involved. Alternatively anonymous information can be given via Crimestoppers by ringing 0800 555 111 or their website crimestoppers-uk.org
