||
E BIKE RULES | E BIKES have increased in use over the past couple of years but there are rules under the Road Traffic Act 1988 which need to be adhered to. The image displays what makes an E BIKE a legal electronically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) which means it can be ridden like any other pedal cycle on the road, cycle paths and bridleways. EAPC can only be ridden by people over the age of 14. If an E BIKE is not an EAPC it will fall under the motorcycle classification. Therefore it must be must be registered, taxed and insured. The rider must have a valid driving licence to ride one and wear a motorcycle helmet that meets British safety standards. They can only be ridden on a road. Riders failing to adhere to these rules may be prosecuted for offences under the Road Traffic Act and have their E BIKE seized by police. For more advice please view the link below;
