This message is for any business owners, charities or other organisations that use IT, has a website or a social media presence. We know that everyone is busy, but please don't neglect your Cyber Security. Start with the basics, make sure your passwords aren’t easy to guess – 12 characters or more please. Then support them with two-step verification wherever you can. Keep your IT systems updated. Don't run an operating system that is no longer supported. Regularly back-up your important information. Most importantly, make sure your colleagues know what to look out for when receiving emails or text messages. A pause and a discussion with teammates, before clicking on a link or opening an email attachment, can quite literally save your IT network. Maybe even your business. The South-West Cyber Resilience Centre works with lots of businesses, charities and other organisations right across the South-West supporting them with their Cyber Security. They are funded by policing and the Home Office, which means virtually everything they can offer you is free and designed specifically for small and medium businesses, charities and other organisations. Whether you have a shop, a café, a garage, a hotel or Airbnb. Be you a sole trader, a charity, a public sector body or a medium sized business. Advice can be found on the South-West Cyber Resilience Centre website. Please feel free to join their growing community today. Signing up takes only a few minutes and can be done here - SW CRC |
