On 19th May 2025 a young person from the St Austell area was convicted at Cornwall Youth Court for possession of a bladed article and disorderly behaviour in a public place. This followed an incident investigated by the Neighbourhood Team where it was alleged that the young person brandished a knife and acted in a threatening manner to council workers. The court imposed a 12 month Youth Referral Order which will subject the young person to various interventions, which are strictly monitored by the Youth Offending Service, to prevent reoffending.
