Untaxed and Abandoned Vehicles

The Seaton Neighbourhood Team have recently seized a number of untaxed vehicles.

The police have devolved powers from the DVLA meaning that if a vehicle is on a road or highway and it has been untaxed for a certain period of time, it can be seized. The registered keeper of the vehicle will also be reported to the DVLA for the offence and can be fined.

This is a useful tool for the team to deal with abandoned vehicles at the side of the road. Any vehicles that are taxed can still be reported to the local authority (East Devon District Council) who can begin the process of getting the vehicle removed.
