You can’t carry a knife for self defence.

It’s illegal to carry any knife you intend to injure or threaten someone with it. this includes carrying a knife ‘ just in case’.

It is now illegal to carry zombie-style knives and machetes.

If you’re worried about your safety, here are some things you can do:

Talk to a trusted adult or Childline.
Report someone who is carrying a knife anonymously using the Fearless website or to your local police force.
Report an area where you feel unsafe online at: www.police.uk/streetsafe

Remember you can surrender your weapons at police stations across the region – with no questions asked.
