We are investigating a serious road traffic collision near Coverack on Wednesday 2 April and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Officers were called to reports of a collision involving the driver of a tractor and a silver Kawasaki motorbike on an unclassified road at Trevothen, between Coverack and Penhallick on The Lizard, at around 4.25pm on Wednesday 2 April. As a result of the collision, an 88-year-old local man was taken to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance in a life-threatening condition. His next of kin are aware. A second man was treated for minor injuries at Treliske Hospital and was later discharged. Officers from the Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team attended the incident and carried out a detailed investigation of the scene, with the road remaining closed for around six hours. A man in his 60s from Porthleven has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance and driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
