Fake emails impersonating energy companies

Action Fraud have reported that they have received reports about fake emails impersonating various energy companies with offers of either free or cheap electricity, however, it is a SCAM.

The email asks you to click on a link which will take you to a realistic looking website under the control of the criminals, where they will steal your personal and financial data.

Always be wary of emails from organisations contacting with links and if unsure always used a trusted number to contact the company.

You can report suspicious emails by forwarding to report@phishing.gov.uk

If you think that you may have been a victim of this or any other type of scam, then contact your Bank immediately, which you can do by calling 159, and report it to Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040.
